Talladega Now Free Of Pesky Turn 3 Spirits

Yes, the mighty Indian spirits that haunt Talladega Speedway have been cleared from the grounds (video).  How, you might ask?  Redneck magic, of course.  Local medicine man and Harry Potter enthusiast (I’m guessing), Robert Thrower, used rabbit tobacco, wild sage, and red cedar to lift the hex left by the Creek Indians forced to vacate the land by President Andrew Jackson in the mid 19th century.  A litany of strange and tragic events have occurred there including (according to Wiki):

In 1973, Bobby Isaac left his car during the race on lap 90 because of voices he claimed to have heard which told him to park his car and get out. Earlier on lap 14 in the same race, young driver Larry Smith died in a seemingly minor wreck.  To some, Bobby Allison’s 1987 wreck described above was yet another reminder of the curse. In 1993, Bobby’s son, Davey Allison, died in a helicopter crash in the infield of Talladega.

Personally, we here at Style Points we’re hoping the curse would stay intact, at least until Carl Edwards won a race there.  Watching someone face plant while back flipping out of a race car was number 8 on our bucket list.  Or if not that, Jeremy Mayfield, possessed by demons (or bathtub gin), strips and tries to hump an air ratchet.

Speedway officials had no comment when asked if the haunted spirits will lose any sponsorships in the after effects of the banning.
