Ocho Cinco Spars With “Real_Ron_Artest” [Updated]

Tonight a full-on Twitter brawl erupted between OGOchoCinco and Real_Ron_Artest. Okay, in full disclosure, we’ve been running the Real_Ron account for months. Business_Socks actually started it up a good while before our little blog launched back in May. The one constant theme to it has been that no matter how ridiculous Real_Ron’s posts are, there are thousands of people who think it’s really Ron Artest. It never ceases to amaze us how many people are not in on the joke. Hell, we even have Real_Ron tweet links to our stories, write legal advice columns, and his twitter page links back to us.
Nevertheless, many people think Real_Ron is the real Ron, and tonight, for at least a short while, Mr. Chad Eight-Five was the mark. Here was the opening salvo, courtesy of Business_Socks.

And here is a longer view of the exchange (for those of you not familiar with Twitter, read from the bottom up). And for those of you scoring at home, we are responsible for the Real_Ron tweets which, again, ARE NOT REALLY RON ARTEST. The Ocho Cinco tweets, however, are really from Chad Johnson (who also sometimes uses Twitter to compare dead pop stars to 9/11), no matter how whimsical or nonsensical they may seem.

Finally, in case Real_Ron gets shut down by Twitter, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of “his” followers — both those who thought he was real and those who were in on the joke. All of you have truly made this whole blogging thing more enjoyable than you could ever imagine.
[Update] – It’s looks like the screengrabs missed 2 of Ron’s tweets which would probably help all of this nonsense clearer.
1. @OGOchoCinco If you had as much brains as you got heart, you’d know not to step to me. I’ll let you wear your helmet to make it fair. Cool?
That’s why Chad says “Helmet?”
2. This ain’t Merriman you playin’ with. I got the five of clubs on one hand and the ace of spades on the other.
This is before Chad names his fist ‘8′ and ‘5.’

*Thanks to Andy Hutchins of The Arena and The Rookies for the screen grabs.

I don’t care what anyone says, Chad Johnson is one of my favorite players in the NFL. I’m being completely serious; I love everything about the guy. I might be only the third person in the world to say that besides his momma and himself, but its true. No homo.
As far as this, I’m joining Twitter right now because of SP’s feeds. Awesome stuff.
This is the reason Twitter was invented: To dupe Chad Ochocinco.
Rock forgot my favorite Real_Ron twit:

Shake/Socks: Do you want screengrabs of that?
It would be hilarious to see how many people would still think it’s ron if he linked this story and they clicked it.
We used to think it was hilarious. Now it kind of bums us out.
The link to SP has been in his profile since the day we went live with the site. We had 150 followers then. We’ve got 7700 right now.
I’d like to believe all of those are in on it.
Reading his feed shows me most of them aren’t.
I was almost expecting this one… I can’t wait for the papers in China to cover this one!
That’s incredible.

You know, given how deliberately controversial everything the Real_Ron_Artest account said, I figured it was fake. However, how crazy does it make him seem that every time I read it I thought “damn, I could really see Ron saying that.”
Real_Ron_Artest isn’t real? This changes my world.
