Rasheed Wallace, Fan of Kansas City…and Prosthetics?

Rasheed Wallace has always been a curious character.  After the 2004 Detroit Pistons won the NBA championship he bought wrestling belts for the entire team.  He owns the record for technical fouls in a season.  In fact, he was so upset about a call that he once chased a team of refs outside the building to continue arguing (it should be noted that Tim Donaghy was one of the refs) after a game.

These are but a few of Sheed’s interesting moments.  While cruising for info on another post I crossed this topic heading “NBA Star Cheers For Chiefs While Tossing Around a Prosthetic Leg.” A line like that will certainly grab your attention.

It appears that Sheed has been a Chiefs fan since they traded for Joe Montana in the early 90’s.  Understood.  He was wearing a Derrick Thomas jersey.  That, I can understand.  Now for the money shot:

That was the scene in the lobby Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field. Wallace, wearing a No. 58 Chiefs jersey, tossed a man’s prosthetic leg back and forth.

The unbelievable thing is the reporter offered no explanation.  Personally, I’d follow this story as if it were the Vick dogfighting scandal, the OJ trial, and Wrestlemania combined.

Thanks to the lazy reporting, we’re only left to speculate as to why he had a prosthetic leg in tow at an NFL football game.

- He picked it up as an early Christmas gift for new teammate Kevin Garnett who’ll likely need it when the rest of his knee cartilage distentegrates this winter?

- He was smuggling a shotgun in it a’ la Delonte West?

- He’s stocking up on medical supplies in case Obama’s healthcare bill doesn’t pass?

How say you, Style Points reader?
